Other Ways to Give
Esther Forbes Society (Legacy Program)
People who indicate they have made provisions for the AAS in their estates become members of the Esther Forbes Society. Members of the Esther Forbes Society are recognized in the Annual Report and are invited to connect with each other during special gatherings such as lectures, tours, or luncheons. Legacy gifts have been crucial to the flourishing of the Society since Isaiah Thomas bequeathed his library and funds to the Society. Please click here for more information.
Give a Collection
Thank you for considering donating items to AAS! Our collections have been augmented by almost 200 years of generous donations, and our curators are always excited about adding more gifts to their collections. If your item was printed prior to 1877 in what became the United States or Canada, chances are it is either a "have" or a "want" - anything we do not already have, we want! To find out if your item is just what AAS has been looking for, please contact Lauren B. Hewes, Chief Curator at lhewes@mwa.org.
Gifts of Stock
One of the most advantageous ways to contribute to the Society is via a gift of stock or other securities, such as bonds or mutual funds. If your stock is held in a brokerage account, your broker can transfer your gift to us electronically. Unfortunately, with electronic transfers, we do not receive any information that identifies you as the donor. It is therefore essential that you or your broker notify us directly so that we can assure that your gift is properly acknowledged for your tax purposes. Notifications, including the name and address of the donor, name of the security, and number of shares, should be sent to stockgifts@mwa.org or one may call (508) 471-2162 with the information.
Volunteer
Opportunities to volunteer in the library, outreach, and administration departments are available at times.
